SecDef Donald Rumsfeld may be sued over Spc Joe Darby PDF Print E-mail

There is word on the street that SecDef Donald Rumsfeld may be sued by a well-financed public-interest organization which I won't name at this time because no paper has yet crossed a federal filing counter... for publicly releasing the name of the Army enlisted man who confidentially disclosed the abuses and torture at the Abu Ghraib detention facility in Iraq.

Rumsfeld's deliberate or senile disclosure of Specialist Joseph Darby's name makes the Valerie Plame disclosure look tame in comparison because Darby's enemies were in close quarters and armed to the teeth.

It is being reported that despite knowing that Darby was a confidential informant, SecDef Rumsfeld intentionally, recklessly or carelessly revealed Darby's name in a open-session Congressional hearing. Some in the Pentagon are saying that Rumsfeld was hoping that Darby's unit members would blow Darby away for ratting them out... others in the Pentagon are saying Rumsfeld never bothered to find out if Darby's name had already been released by Army CID (Criminal Investigation Dept) or if Darby was in protective custody... or back in the States and far away from fellow personnel who carried their firearms to bed.
For political purposes... or for revenge... The Bush Administration has repeatedly disclosed information that has endangered the lives of classified or confidential agents. This abuse and betrayal began shortly after Bush was elected when he used the gutless FBI Director to harass citizens known to have been opposed to his selection by the Supremes his father and Reagan appointed. It was bad enough that hundreds of FBI agents were ordered to IBI (intimidate by interview) Americans who warned Bush was bad news in the city... and they were right... because if these agents had been working real cases they might have disrupted the 9/11 plot.

No special or confidential agent is safe under the current Administration. Because he received no federal protection Spc. Darby was forced to move from his home town. Darby's name should never have been made public... as no CI's name should ever be publicly disclosed. by a well-financed public-interest organization which I won't name at this time because no paper has yet crossed a federal filing counter... for publicly releasing the name of the Army enlisted man who confidentially disclosed the abuses and torture at the Abu Ghraib detention facility in Iraq.
